The ghats get very busy at aarti and, during the Kumbh, on bathing dates. A few habits keep everyone safe.

• Agree a meeting point and a time before you enter a crowd — phones fail when networks are congested.
• Keep children and elderly members in the middle of your group, holding hands; write your phone number on a child’s wristband or pocket.
• Move with the flow, keep to one side, and never push or stop suddenly on steps or bridges.
• At the river, stay within marked bathing areas and heed the ropes and volunteers — the Godavari’s current and depth vary.
• Follow police and NTKMA volunteers’ instructions immediately on restricted or one-way routes.
• Carry water, a hat and any medicines; take breaks in the shade to avoid heat exhaustion.

Nashik is welcoming, but as anywhere, a little caution protects visitors — especially first-timers and pilgrims.

• Agree fares before you travel. Our cab fares are shown up front with no hidden charges — insist on clarity from any operator.
• Be wary of strangers offering “special darshan”, “compulsory” pujas or donations — use official temple counters and authorised priests.
• Don’t hand your phone, cards or valuables to anyone; use official prepaid counters where they exist.
• Verify a “guide” or “official” before paying — genuine authorities carry identification.
• Keep digital and paper copies of your ID and tickets separately from the originals.

For anything official — restrictions, Kumbh helplines, safety orders — these bodies have the final word.
